Data Collected by the Application

Voice Recordings

When you press your recording shortcut, VoiceHotKey records audio from your microphone. The audio file is transmitted over an encrypted connection to VoiceHotKey servers for speech-to-text transcription using AI-based speech recognition. Recordings are stored locally on your device and can be deleted at any time from the History menu in the app.

Device Identifier

The app generates an anonymous device identifier (a random UUID stored in your Keychain on Mac App Store builds, or a hashed hardware identifier on direct-download builds). This identifier is used to associate your device with your account and license. It does not contain personally identifiable information.

System Information

Each transcription request includes your app version, macOS version, and your selected transcription language(s). This information is used to process your request correctly and for diagnostic purposes.

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication and license management.

How We Use Your Data

Voice recordings are transmitted to VoiceHotKey servers solely for the purpose of AI-powered speech-to-text transcription. Audio is processed and not retained on our servers after transcription is complete.
Device identifiers are used to link your device to your license and subscription.
System information (app version, OS version, language preferences) is used to process transcription requests and diagnose technical issues.
Account information is used for authentication, license management, and customer support.

Who Receives Your Data

Your voice recordings and associated request data are sent to VoiceHotKey servers, operated by VoiceHotKey. These servers use AI-based speech recognition services to perform transcription. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or voice recordings with unrelated third parties.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website utilizes Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel to track ad conversions. These are the only cookies used on our site, and they are exclusively from Google and Meta. No other cookies are employed. If you prefer, you can disable cookies through your browser settings, it won’t affect your experience at all, because our website doesn’t use and doesn’t rely on cookies!

These cookies are only used by Google and Meta in our website. Our desktop and mobile software VoiceHotKey doesn’t use cookies.

You can delete your local recordings at any time from the History menu in the app.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in the app.
No voice data is sent until you actively press your recording shortcut. The app does not record in the background.
